1914 Triumph Engine
This engine is dated to May 1914 from its MTU engine code.
It is a 499/500cc engine and has been completely rebuilt by a well known veteran expert.
In 1914 most of Triumphs production had moved to the 4hp 550cc engine, but if you were ordering a TT special or others you could specify a 500cc version if you intended to race and needed to keep under the 500cc limit. Accordingly this engine would be ideal for a 1914 TT Rep, although it could be fitted to any 14 Triumph and even to earlier year models if you need an engine to get a bike going.
The engine is ready to run, the new parts and work include:
Drive side mainshaft
Crank pin
Inlet cam wheel
Valves
Valve guides
Valve springs
Piston rings
Valve caps
Exhaust nut
Timing cover screws
Both main bearings with the correct twin track on the drive side and all fitted with correct segmented shims
Cam follower rollers
Drive side oil seal and retaining plate
Bronze end pads to gudgeon pin
Standard 85mm bore and piston
The cases are a matched numbered pair.
All threads are excellent. It is ready to run.
I am only selling it to raise funds to buy a 1911 Triumph that my grandfather owned a century ago.
It is advertised elsewhere and I do have people interested, but I am looking for a quick cash sale so no timewasters please.
