Pictures of my c1903 Ascot engine.

If you have any suggestions as to who made it, then please do let me know.

You can email me on - paulg@go-faster.com

It is 80x80mm - so 402cc

The crankcases are also stamped with 086 which might be a part number indentifying a manufacturer or being the production series number?

I suspect Ascot did not make many as they were not in business for long.

This is the engine as acquired.

I cleaned it up externally looking for any signs of who made the engine and the more I looked the better it got.

The small gear above is on the end of the crank and it drives the gear below which has a traditional looking cam on it and this moves the cam plate which in turn moves the valves up and down, very simple.

Below the cam operates on this plate which pivots and rocs the valves up and down.

The bore looks perfect and almost no use.

The piston is perfect, I cant image that this engine has had much use.

I have never seen a screw holding in the little end bearing before.
